This is the profile page of the administrator (me) of "Notes from a Mechanical Designer".

Profile

Nice to meet you. I am Engineer48, the administrator of this blog, Mechanical Design Memo. Thank you very much for visiting our blog from among many technical blogs.

I am currently an active engineer who has been involved in mechanical design for 20 years in the automotive parts industry / industrial robotics industry / precision equipment manufacturers. This blog is written in part to my past self. When I was a young man, I wanted it by the throat,Knowledge that is not found in textbooks and is truly useful in the field I would like to convey all of the information in a systematic and easy-to-understand manner. I would also like to encourage the growth of young and mid-career engineers who are struggling every day, just as I once did.

It is with this in mind that I started this blog.

How I became a mechanical engineer

It was during my college job search that I first became interested in the mechanical path. Having gone from an agricultural high school to a university with a business administration department, I was most interested in the industrial field at the time.

However, there were no engineering firms that would hire me, coming from an agricultural and liberal arts background, but I happened to be introduced to a small design firm in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, through an acquaintance. I am still grateful for that.

After joining the company, I was first put in charge of machinery and equipment for can manufacturing. At the time, the drawings that I drew with great enthusiasm using 2DCAD were sometimes returned to me in bright red with a red pen by a senior colleague, who was a veteran in charge of the manufacturing department. and the drawing was returned to me stained bright red by the red pen of a senior colleague. It was quite painful to work from a place where I had no knowledge, and I was confronted daily with the depth and severity of "design.

The memories of the terrible noise and interference are traumatic.

I read books but honestly found little useful information. I was painfully aware that true design is a muddy but creative puzzle, in which optimal solutions are derived from a variety of constraints. With that frustration as a springboard, I proactively went to job sites where others were reluctant to go and learned a lot from the engineers on site.

I have experienced countless major failures, but each one has become part of my blood and blood as a designer, and the sense of accomplishment I feel when I successfully deliver a design is my driving force. This is the kind ofThe practical know-how gained through experience is the very value I want to share with you on this blog.It is.

My expertise and skills

Throughout my career, I have developed expertise in the following areas

  • Early 20s:Design of transportation machinery and equipmentI worked for a design firm in Aichi, Japan, designing furnace equipment and automotive equipment. (Canning parts mostly).
  • Late 20s:Aerospace designI was designing new models of existing products and machining jigs. (Cutting parts mostly)
  • Early 30s:Design of industrial robots and FA systemsI was mainly designing assembly equipment and development-related test equipment. (mostly cutting and sheet metal parts)
  • Late 30s:Design of industrial robots and FA systemsI was the group leader for the design of assembly equipment and development-related test equipment mainly. (mostly cutting and sheet metal parts)
  • Early 40s (present):Mechanical DesigngeneralI am working on aActivities range from automotive, food packaging, processing, and civil engineering. The company is doing so.

Tools used

  • 3D CAD:SOLIDWORKS Premium
  • 2D CAD:AutoCAD,BricsCAD
  • CAE:SolidWorks Simulation

Thoughts on this blog

The reason I run this blog,When it comes down to it, "Contribution to Japanese manufacturingIt comes down to the words.

Japan's manufacturing industry once led the world,Facing challenges such as difficulty in passing on technology and lack of young human resources The company is doing so.How can we transform the tacit knowledge of veterans into formal knowledge and pass it on to the next generation? I sincerely hope that this blog will be of some help in this regard.

All of the information that I will share here is based on my own practical experience and confirmed validity. At times, I will also share my failures without concealment. This is because there is much more to learn from my failures than from my successes.

Our goal is for this blog to be the following for you

  • A reliable "second textbook":. A place where you can gain knowledge directly related to practical work that is not taught in school.
  • A "Resource Room" where you can find tips for your work:. A place where you can find a solution when you are stuck on a design.

Also, this blog does not use AI to create articles, and the articles are solely notes of my own experience and expertise.

Also, to convey information more clearly to readers after the article is written (due to my poor writing skills),Using AI Tools to Proofread Text The company is doing so.

Although this blog is still in its infancy, I put my heart and soul into each and every article I write. We hope you will bookmark our blog and use it as a companion to your daily work.

About SNS

Currently.X (formerly Twitter) and ... andLinkedIn New social networking accounts such asNotes that I want to summarize are written in articles, and important things that I feel in my daily work are written as one word notes at the top of the TOP page and on SNS. I would be happy if you could visit us once in a while.

About work requests

I also accept design work via this blog. I mainly work as a subcontract designer and technical sales person for machine manufacturers, and I also have design partners (freelance connections), so I can increase the volume of my design work as needed. Due to confidentiality reasons, we do not list our clients here, but we have experience working with machine manufacturers, processing machine manufacturers, trading companies, and many others.
